Product Description
The Breastflow Starter Set is a great gift for expecting and new moms. The kit includes everything needed to get started: two 5 oz bottles with Stage 1 nipples and bottle covers, two 9 oz bottles with Stage 2 flow nipples and bottle covers, a unique snap-to-bottle container, and bottle brush.Breastflow is the only feeding system that requires both suction and compression, just like breast feeding. The nipple is designed to mimic the breast so baby can latch on and to encourage the same mouth and tongue position as breast feeding. The double nipple system requires both suction and compression, just like breast feeding and baby controls the flow of milk. It's the bottle most like breastfeeding.
Amazon.com Product Reviews

The First Years designed the Breastflow bottles for transitions between bottle feeding and breastfeeding. The outer layer of the "nipple-within-nipple" design compresses and mimics the feel of a breast, while the inner is more firm to acclimate to bottle feeding. The stage one nipples require compression and suction, and the stage two nipples are designed for medium flow. The starter kit comes with two 5 ounce bottles (and two stage one nipples), two 9 ounce bottles (with stage two nipples), four bottle covers that fit the bottom of the bottles, a snap-to container that can hold snacks and formula, and a bottle brush. The First Years Breastflow is a fantastic design for parents introducing the bottle, and for nursing mothers switching to and from bottle and breast. --Scott Teal

Wonderful for nursing moms!!! (2008-12-23)
My newborn was nursing great until he had to be fed from a bottle for one day, he had troubles latching for the first time because of the bottle. I quickly went out looking for some sort of bottle that was similar to nursing and found the breastflow bottles. He never had troubles again! I was able to go back to work and not have to worry about nursing problems because of bottles.

Best Bottle for Breastfed Babies (2008-12-19)
I've had trouble breastfeeding since day one. My daughter is now 4 months old and has been breastfeeding with zero formula supplements since 7 weeks. The First Years Breastflow bottle made the transition from partial formula supplementation to exclusive breastfeeding much, MUCH easier for both me and my daughter.

These bottles have a brilliant design and there is no bottle like it out there on the market. Other bottles claim to be "natural nursers" and "most like mother," but they do not hold a candle to the Breastflow!! At first I used the Playtex Drop-Ins system with my daughter, but she took a bottle so often at first that she began to refuse the breast and had a difficult time opening her mouth wide enough to latch on properly. The Breastflow corrected both problems, because A) the milk came out slowly and steadily like it does at the breast (it comes out to quickly for her in other bottles), and B) the unique nipple forced my daughter to open her mouth wide as if she were at the breast, making the transition from bottle to breast a lot easier.

The only con I can think of is that the nipples are a bit hard to figure out, so if you leave your child with a caretaker who doesn't know how to fit the nipple together properly, the bottle could end up leaking milk.

Other than that, these are totally worth your money. We must have 10 of them at home! They are definitely the best bottle for breastfed babies, in my opinion, and I hope they work for you, too.

Breastflow Bottles ARE BPA-free Now! (2008-11-19)
Hi! On the advice of a friend, I registered for and received these Breastflow bottles as shower gifts. I am REALLY looking forward to nursing again (my 2nd baby) and then using these bottles as an alternative convenience and when I return to work. I just found out that Learning Curve/The First Years has distributed BPA-free versions to replace the old bottles and I'm in the process of returning my two current packages of the bottles (which do NOT say BPA-free) for the new LABELED BPA-free versions. I spoke with one of the company's representatives and he said that I should be able to return these and exchange them with no problems. Also, their website now refers to the bottles as "BPA-free" and the boxes/packaging now says "BPA-free." So check their website and/or call their 1-800 customer care number and speak with a rep. I did both. Hope that helps!!

Awesome! (2008-08-26)
No leaks at all, maybe others' bottles were defective or they didn't put on or align the nipple correctly. Works just like the breast...no nipple confusion when I had to use these for a GI formula trial with my infant daughter. We switched right on to these from the breast, and right back onto the breast when the formula trial was finished with no fuss!

BPA free would be preferred, of course...

great for breastfeeding but... (2008-08-18)
I have been breastfeeding my daughter now for 5 weeks and everytime i go to work twice a week my baby was feeding from medela and born free bottles but when i would get home , my daughter would latch all wrong and it would take me two days to fix her latch! These nipples are perfect but the bottle does contain BPA! I was hesitant to buy thesr for three whole weeks then my nipple cracked one night and OMG!!! So as a chemist i know that BPA is only expelled through heat so I DO NOT ever store, heat or sterilize these bottles..instead wash with ice cold bottled water and store your milk in medela or bornfree bottles and even heat the milk in these then transfer or use bottle liners!hopefully they make a bpa free bottle soon and then i'll give them five stars...be careful but if you breastfeed and pump..these bottle are PERFECT..the nipples are just PERFECT! I am grateful and so are my breasts =D
